911 Phones

BrightHouse can no longer accept devices that are on a 3G network or older. Cell phone towers do not recognize those phones anymore, even for 911 calls. If you or a loved one use a phone for 911 calls only, check to see if the phone will continue to work after 3G networks are no longer used.

If a phone has a frequency of 900 megahertz or 2100 megahertz, it is likely a 3G network.

To find out if your phone still works for 911 calls:

  1. Pull up your numbers pad like you are about to make a phone call

  2. Type in *#06#

  3. Copy the IMEI #

  4. Go to imei.info

  5. Paste the IMEI #

  6. Scroll Down to “Basic Information”

  7. Under the last line it says “Expand”, Tap that.

  8. Scroll down until you see “Read More”, Tap that.

  9. On this page you will find the information you need. In the table it will either say: 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G. (Only 4G and 5G work)

Additionally, the following document has a list of some phones networks are claiming will or will not work after 3G networks are no longer used.
